I understand about the hip -- I'm suffering from a combined hip flexor/ITB strain and am having physical therapy for it. You might want to check out the cause of it, if you don't know already. Mine was due to a leg length difference caused by my pelvis being misaligned which, in turn, was caused by an earlier leg injury! Meanwhile, I would recommend keeping up the walking but watch your gait to see that you're not limping. Once you get back to jogging, keep checking that you're not favoring one leg over the other. The easiest way to tell is by listening to your footfall and making sure that each heel strikes quietly without scuffing.
Good luck!
